Everyone in the music-writing world is super jazzed about the Jay-z produced soundtrack to The Great Gatsby. In particular, the Beyonce and Andre 3000 cover of Amy Winehouse's "Back To Black." We've already written breathlessly on the topic several times, but it appears that one person doesn't share our excitement, Winehouse's father Mitch says the duo doesn't "bring anything" to their cover of the song.
"I don't think she brings anything to it," Mitch told The Daily Mail. "I wasn't asked for my permission if they could record it."
While Mitch has since given permission he says that Beyonce, Jay-Z, Andre, Luhrmann and the gang will have to pay a pretty penny for his late daughter's work.
"'They have got to pay for the privilege, which is what they are doing," Mitch added. "I can't tell you how much it is but it's a lot of money."
So far, only snippets of the song have been heard. Listen to what little we have of the track in this trailer:
Mitch spoke out earlier this month about the cover on Twitter.
Let me repeat. This is the first I have heard of Beyonce doing Amys song.

I don't know this but what if Beyonce gave £100,000 to foundation. Do you know how many kids that would help? Just putting it out there. — mitch winehouse (@mitchwinehouse) April 2, 2013
"I don't know this but what if Beyonce gave £100,000 to foundation. Do you know how many kids that would help? Just putting it out there," he added, the foundation in question being the Amy Winehouse foundation, a charity established to help young people with addiction problems.
Mitch Winehouse is currently working with producer Mark Ronson on a follow-up to Amy's posthumous collection Lioness: Hidden Treasures. The collection is said to feature very early work from Winehouse and the proceeds from the album will benefit the foundation.
What do you think? Is Mitch Winehouse right to say that Beyonce and Andre 3000 don't bring anything to their cover of "Back To Black"?
