"Nocturnal Animals", the recently released Tom Ford directed neo-noir thriller is a sombre affair for the most part but it does have its share of humour to offer. "Tony and Susan" and starring an ensemble starry cast, including the likes of Amy Adams, Jake Gyllenhaal, Michael Shannon and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
According to Cinema Blend, one such moment presents itself when Aaron Taylor Johnson's character is shown sitting on a "porch-toilet", stark-naked, as the characters played by Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Shannon approach the former. The actor was totally comfortable acting out the scene, said that the director wanted to bring out the arrogant streak in the character, who is a plumber by profession.
The scene is so bizarre that, in an interview taken by Eric Eisenberg, the latter could not hold him back from asking the actor about its making. As the actor revealed, funnily, the scene was not included in the movie's script, but, in fact, came to fruition from a sudden idea that struck the director, Tom Ford. According to Johnson, he was completely at home playing out that scene, yet, was surprised by its sudden inclusion into the storyline.
Considering that Johnson's character is a plumber, the fact that he decided to build a toilet right out at the front of the house, visible to the public, brings out the sheer arrogance inherent in his nature. It was the wish to create this mental impact that led to the inclusion of the scene into the movie, pcgadgetstore reported, the movie is a grim and serious noir.
Johnson further went on to disclose that he found the moment very interesting, since, his character , Ray, "who has all the power during the movie's early scenes", is exposed to an unexpected position of vulnerability. The actor found that the scene presented him and his fellow performers with a unique innovative dynamic, opening up a much greater area for them to explore as actors.
