She is known for her clean eating habits but actress, singer and lifestyle guru Gwyneth Paltrow thinks the reason for a good health is not limited to clean eating but "clean sleeping".
The 44-year-old star of "Shakespeare in Love" recently wrote a piece in Daily Mail Online wherein she explained why getting a sound sleep is so important for our health.
"The lifestyle I lead is based not just on clean eating, but also on clean sleeping: at least seven or eight hours of good, quality sleep - and ideally even ten," she wrote. "Sleep plays such a powerful role in determining your appetite and energy levels that I believe it should be your first priority - even before you think about your diet."
The Oscar-winning actress who curated lifestyle website Goop eight years ago was at her moderate best when she said that she didn't regard herself as an expert and has a support team to help her learn more about it.
Paltrow, for instance, cited her nutrition expert Dr Frank Lipman telling her that poor-quality sleep can be harmful in many ways. It not only unsettles metabolism and hormones, causing weight gain, poor mood and affects memory but also inflammation and reduced immunity raising the chances of chronic ailments. She also said that inadequate sleep is very bad for beauty.
Meanwhile, director Joss Whedon who directed Paltrow in his "Avengers" (2012) took a dig at the latter on Monday by tweeting an image of Paltrow's latest book on cooking "It's All Easy: Delicious weekday recipes for the super-busy home cook" with the caption "WHERE DO I START".
While Whedon's fans were yet to understand whether he was ridiculing Paltrow's initiative, he indirectly confirmed it by favoriting a fan's tweet that alleged the actor's co-author (Thea Baumann) did all the lifting.
