Scott Ridley's terrifying Alien: Covenant has been released this Christmas, the sixth film of the Alien series.
The film is starring Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterson, James Franco, Noomi Rapace, Danny McBride and Guy Pearce. The film is a sequel of the director's atmospheric, quite frustratingly ambiguous- Prometheus.
Fassbender, Rapace and Pearce repeated their roles from the 2012 movie, which was intended to be a forerunner, although not a direct one, to the Alien. The creepy new trailer suggests addition to the franchise is embracing the dark, murky horror of the 1979 original, which was first introduced to the audiences by the Xenomorph species.
Towards the end of the trailer, there's a particularly horrible looking shower 'love' scene. Prometheus was inspired by humanity's obsession with creative myths, followed a crew sent to investigate the beginnings of life on the Earth, seeking out a mysterious, God-like race known as engineers.
In contrast, Covenant tells the story of a colony ship which travelled to the same unwelcoming planet discovered by the Prometheus crew. They discovered android (Fassbender), who is all that remains of the doomed earlier mission. Waterson, named Daniels, plays a crew member of the Covenant, meanwhile Danny McBride is starring as one of the new ship's captains.
James Branco has recently confirmed his involvement in this film, he plays another captain, Branson, who happens to be the husband of Daniels.
There are most good news despite the horror trailer, director Scott has promised his new Alien installment will finally provide some answers. He says They're going to go to the planet where the engineers came from, and come across the evolving creature that they had made.
The film explains as to why did they make it? Why would they make such a terrifying beast? It felt like a weapon.
