The Duchess of Cambridge finally has a visible baby bump with only 3 months left before her mid-July birth of the future heir to the throne and she made her first appearance yesterday in maternity clothes. Kate is known for her style of dress and has been able to keep up with fashion even during her pregnancy. As if her schedule of public appearances were not hectic enough, Kate is possibly reliving a stressful part of her life as last year's "topless" controversy is back in the news. Criminal charges have reportedly been brought upon a photographer and two European publications for invasion of privacy over last year's candid shots of the Duchess as she vacationed with Prince William.

According to reports, a French photographer has been put under formal criminal investigation because of his candid shots of the Duchess sunbathing on private property last summer. The so-called "topless" photos were taken from an extreme distance and now the photographer is looking at possible jail time.

"The photographer and legal representatives of both companies have been questioned concerning the photographing of a person on private property and the criminal use of these images," a spokesman for the prosecution said. "The maximum penalty for this kind of offence is one year in prison and a fine of 45,000 euros for individuals. For corporate bodies, the fine is 45,000 euros, cessation of business for five years and public notification of the decision."

The picture was published in France's Closer Magazine.

Prince William and Kate were memorably angered by the invasion of privacy, but these days they are mainly focused on their upcoming child.

Yesterday, the Duchess of Cambridge attended a ceremony for the charity "The Art Room" at the National Portrait Gallery in London. Kate is a patron of "The Art Room," of course.

Now that she has "popped" the 31-year-old royal has moved away from stylish outfits to a maternity-appropriate dress. Though the look is still fashionable, it is clearly a different (and inevitable) look.

At last night's ceremony, Kate made a speech about the charity and how it helped educate and keep children involved in the arts.

"I am a firm believer in the power of art to make a difference and The Art Room makes this on a daily basis," the mother-to-be said.
