Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus made an announcement back in November last year, stating that they will be rolling the Android update for their two major devices - OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T before the end of 2016. However, it did not quite work out as they had planned.
However, the company sure does plan on fulfilling its promise at the start of 2017. As reported by Gadgets360, OnePlus CEO Carl Pei tweeted on Saturday that the stable release of OxygenOS 4.0 based on Android 7.0 Nougat has started to roll out for users.
The same report suggested that the Android 7.0 Nougat-based Oxygen OS 4.0 update is "being pushed out over the air" and will reach all users globally in the coming days. The company is reportedly calling this update an incremental roll-out.
The company also further stated that this roll-out will be available in batches and only a few random users will receive the update on the first day itself. Other users will however, have to wait for a little longer.
The update is not based on the latest Android Nougat 7.1.1. Instead, the update consists of a greater number of options like a more enhanced shelf-customisation with new notification and settings with a better user interface and an option for users to access multi-window view. The update will also allow users to reply directly on the notifications panel.
Moreover, users will have access to custom DPI support and the ability to choose status bar icons according to their preference. Quick Launch feature will also be included in this update.
Another report by Firstpost suggests that the company is also launched an Open Beta Program especially for OnePlus 3T users. No official confirmation regarding the roll-out date has been shared by the company yet. However, we must wait around for official confirmations from the side of the company.
