Though the particulars about the deal has not been revealed by the source but various other reports have confirmed the news with The Vertical being the first to speculate about such a deal.

Kyle Korver is one of the leagues' elite 3-point shooter and he has shot 43 percent from long range during his career and his 1,952 made 3's are the eighth most in the league history. The Cleveland Cavaliers are in dire need of a replacement for J.R. Smith who is expected to be sidelined until the end of the regular season after undergoing surgey for broken thumb. The Cavs also lost Chris Anderson to a knee injury and are also interested in bringing a backup point guard though Korver seems to be the priority right now reports, Live5news.

Korver has expressed mixed emotions about the shift because of his friendships and relationships with the team and excitement to join Cleveland as well. Though Korver admits that its going to be a great opportunity for him in the Cleveland Cavaliers and he is looking forward to it. The Hawks sharpshooter who has spent five seasons with Atlanta after two in Chicago, is making $5.2 million in his final year, of a four year $24 million contract he signed with Atlanta in 2013 reports, NBA.com.

For the Atlanta Hawks, trading Korver looks like the latest in a series of roster decisions which is slowly but surely breaking up the core squad that has been pretty successful in the past winning 60 games and finishing at the top of the Eastern Conference. Apart from power forwardAl Horford, who left for Boston as a free agent there have been other trades in this manner including small forward DeMarre Carroll, who signed with Toronto as a free agent; and guard Jeff Teague, who was traded to Indiana.

The Cavs next game is with the Brooklyn Nets in New York on Friday night, the start of a six game trip.
