Before there was Angel Haze, Nicki Minaj, or Azealia Banks, there was a pit bull in a skirt. The feminine yet, tough rapper Eve, is back with a new single, "Eve," the second single from her Lip Lock eleven year comeback album.
With the release of her second single, 'Eve' picks up like she never left. The rocker reggae infused track featuring Miss Kitty is the perfect anthem as Eve delivers hungrily. Eve's feminine yet Philly tough girl attitude radiates through her rhymes, as Miss Kitty's soothing whiny repetition of Eve's name reinforces, Eve's presence.
Eve reminds fans that "the queen is back," all while daring challengers to "f*ck with her." "'Eve' is one of my fave songs on the album," Eve told Rolling Stone. "It's in ya face, it's all me. And love the vibe of Ms. Kitty. It's gritty but has a mean bounce."
That gritty mean bounce is what got Eve her Grammy Awards and top selling albums. While she said she is still the Ruff Ryder we all know and loved, she has grown since then.
"I don't want people to take [Lip Lock] too seriously," Eve told Billboard, "I'm not trying to relive any moments of my life. I'm in a new place in my life. I'm almost a new artist. It's a fun record."
Lip Lock is due out on May 14th.
