After Netflix confirmed that its hit sci-fi series "Stranger Things" will have a second season, fans of the show have been clamoring for spoilers and even flooding rumor threads with their personal theories about the unpredictable series.
It came naturally that lead actress Winona Ryder would be asked about the show during her first red carpet appearance in the Golden Globes in 23 years. In an interview with E!'s Giulianna Rancic, Winona joked that while she may want to share information about the second season, she could not for fear of her own life.
"We're sort of like sworn, you know, we would have to probably be killed if we revealed anything," Ryder said. But mostly, the actress clarified that for the most part, even the actors are not completely privy to what will happen in the show.
"But actually, it helps the performance when you actually don't know. It's a strange thing. I never thought it would work that way," she said.
The Stranger Things cast also opened the Golden Globes with Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Materazzo and Caleb McLaughlin who rapped about the series' character Barb being alive, and the character emerging from a pool similar to where she was taken by the Demogorgon in season 1.
This raised hopes of the show's fans for a few seconds before recalling series creator Matt Duffer's statement about the character in a previous interview.
"People get very frustrated, understandably, that the town doesn't seem to be really dealing with Barb. That stuff is all happening. We're just not spending any screen time on it," he said.
Actress Shannon Purser, who played the part, expressed confidence that the show will eventually address Barb's disappearance and serve up some justice for the character.
"I'm sure that the Duffers are gonna bring [her disappearance] back in Season 2," she said to Thrillist.
Meanwhile, producer Shawn Levy confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that Season 2 will definitely answer many of the questions that are still left hanging from the first season, including Hopper's mysterious deal with the suits.
"There were some troubling loose ends. Why did Hopper get in that car? What was that thing that Will coughed up in the bathroom?" he said.
Season 2 is set for release by Netflix this year.
