Microsoft revealed the newest version of its 2-in-1 Surface notebook hybrid in a Surface-focused event in October 2016. Sadly for consumers who have long been anticipating for the Surface Pro 5, no news was provided regarding the said device.

There will be significant upgrades for the upcoming 2-in-1 device, if latest rumors to be believed. The latest leak says that Microsoft has given manufacturing contract for Surface Pro 5 to Pegatron Company. Report also claims that Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will have a 4K display and a stylus that recharges wirelessly.

According to TechTimes, the Surface Pro 5 will be reveaked in the first quarter of 2017. The news about the device coming out this year came from a Chinese publication, Economic Daily News. Pegatron Technology was reportedly the manufacturer who always chosen to make the aforementioned gadget.

The device's stylus, which is also dubbed as the Surface Pen, is expected to launch alongwith the Surface Pro 5. However, the stylus will have magnetic charging. Once this particular specification has been confirmed to be true, this will be the very first time for Microsoft to apply such feature to a Surface Pro tablet.

Magnetic charging will allow the stylus to charge without having to attach any wires. To begin the charging process, user will only need to dock the it into the tablet. The present surface pen is attached magnetically, but it is not rechargeable as it takes the Alkaline AAAA battery.

Surface Pro 5 is also rumored to feature a full cinematic experience on their devices because of its reported 12.5-inch 4K screen. This screen will also offer 3D support at 60fps. That said, Microsoft is expected to ditch Super AMOLED screens in favour of IPS touch ones.

The device from Microsoft is also said to support 512GB to 1TB storage SSD and it will reportedly run on the Windows 10 Redmond 3 version.

The much-anticipated Surface successor is said to come out with Intel's 7th Generation Kaby Lake processor. However several reports say there will be three different chipset versions, which are dual core or Core M, dual core with two threads or Core i5, and quad core with eight threads or Core i7, this will allow the tablet to obtain higher processing speeds and save more battery life.

The Surface Pro 5 is will be the first one in its range to get an update to the USB C port. It will have USB 4.0 port instead of the USB 3.0 port. The proprietary charging connector is an annoyance that can be easily solved by the USB C, reports Tech news inc.

The Surface Pro 5 will supposedly have a starting price of $899 for the base model. For the release as mentioned in our previous report, the device is expected to be announced in March this year.
