The latest Android 7.0 Nougat update available for Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus in the form of an Over the Air (OTA) update. The Android 7.0 Nougat update is having the great features for mid-range phones. Some of the features are like Data Saver, Work Mode and a much better Doze Mode.
A lot of Android users have already enjoyed the latest update, Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS, than those Moto G4 and G4 Plus users, since the company didn't manage to straight away roll out such update.
Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus will not be having a definite official release date for the new Android 7.1.1 Nougat update. Nevertheless reports surfacing on the internet say that these handsets are likely to receive the new OS maybe sometime this year, possibly in the first or second quarter of 2017. Motorola is already reported to be working on the currently installed software update for both Moto G4 and G4 Plus handsets.
The new update comes in with build number NPJ25.93-11 that is compatible for both Moto G4 and G4 Plus. You should note that this update should be just installed only on supported models Moto G4 handsets with a model number of XT1624. And for the Moto G4 Plus handsets with a model number XT1643.
This small update will also enable its users to restoring their devices back to stock Android Nougat firmware when it is required.
According to a report on THE ANDROID SOUL, the firmware should be manually installed via Fastboot. Several Moto G4 and G4 Plus models already received the Nougat update while in the some regions the update is yet to receive such as Germany, in which it might be available by the end of January.
