Russel Westbrook Surgery [VIDEO]: Oklahoma City Thunder Player Out Indefinitely After Knee Injury, Kevin Durant Under Playoffs Pressure

Point guard for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Russell Westbrook, is set to undergo surgery to repair cartilage in his right knee as a lateral meniscus tear. This news of course comes after game two of their playoffs with the Houston Rockets, of which the Thunder lead two games to none. Westbrook sustained his injury during this Wednesday night game.

The three-time NBA all-star was injured in game two when rookie Patrick Beverly's hip collided with Westbrook's knee during game play.

"Anyone who knows me knows I don't go out there and try to hurt anybody," Beverley said. "I play at one speed and that's fast. I was just trying to make a play on the ball before they called a timeout and it's just unfortunate."

Though Westbrook's injury is bad in itself, it also leaves his team in the middle of a playoff match up with out their star point guard. The pressure is now on NBA star Kevin Durant to step up and basically carry the team. Though he will miss Westbrook's playing, Durant just wants him to take it easy.

"We're not trying to rush him or bring him back ahead of schedule. We want to make sure he's healthy and his knee is right," Durant said. "That's our only concern with it right now. ... We have to come together as a team and worry about the basketball. All he has to worry about is him getting healthy."

Thunder coach, Scott Brooks, who originally thought Westbrook would be able to play today, has not discussed exactly how the team will replace the injured player.

"He's definitely going to have to be a guy that's going to have to handle the ball more. But he has actually for this past year has handled the ball more with that second unit," Brooks said. "He's always been somewhat of our point forward."
