At CES 2017, Nokia announced its mid-range smartphone called the Nokia 6. Nokia, which is now owned by HMD Global is planning to introduce several Android devices in 2017. Nokia 8 is going to be their flagship for the year.

Qualcomm might have accidentally leaked Nokia's flagship smartphone as Qualcomm demonstrated image stabilization feature on its Snapdragon 835 SoC. The smartphone which was used to demonstrate the electronic image stabilization (EIS 3.0) is Nokia 8. The leaked video gives us an insight of the smartphone and its looks very similar to the Nokia 6. The video also shows the two variants of the Nokia 8 side-by-side at Qualcomm's booth at CES 2017.

According to the reports on Forbes, Nokia is expected to bring back its camera prowess again through the Nokia 8. The phone is expected to come in two variants and both will feature a 24MP OIS and EIS equipped rear camera and 12MP front camera. The rear camera is expected to feature Carl Zeiss optics which were used on Nokia's flagship smartphones previously.

The specifications for the smartphone include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC paired with 6GB RAM. The storage options are either 64GB or 128GB and a MicroSD card slot for further expansion. The second variant however will have an inferior Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset with 4GB RAM, as reported by Tech2.

It being reported that Nokia 8 will feature a 5.7-inch IPS display with 2K resolution and protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. There are several elements that bring about a striking similarity between the Nokia 8 and previously released Nokia 1020 PureView.

The new Nokia 8 is expected to come with a unibody metal design, dual front speakers and a physical button for the camera and will usher Nokia into the Android smartphone market. The fans are already waiting for Nokia to make a comeback. The leaked phone is expected to be announced at Mobile World Congress 2017 next month.
