Four years after the last of the 'Twilight' films came out, fans are dying to know if there's going to be a sequel or spinoff to the mega franchise. 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn -Part 2' grossed $829.7 million on a global scale. And undoubtedly, the Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson chemistry had a lot to do with it.
After this, Summit/Lionsgate had a difficult time trying to come up with sustainable franchise to replicate the success of Twilight and Hunger Games sagas. They tried 'Gods of Egypt', 'Ender's Game', 'Warm Bodies', and 'The Last Witch Hunter' which failed to gain a warm reception from fans. Even the 'Divergent Series' tried it's hardest but still failed to pan out.
So in an interview with Lionsgate Motion Picture Group co-chairperson Patrick Wachsberger, he tells ScreenDaily that the company is considering going back to its most successful saga to date: 'Twilight'.
It's Not A Certainty, But It's A Possibility
Wachsberger says it is a possibility but not a certainty. It depends on novelist Stephenie Meyer if she wants to tell a story that's related to those characters then they're ready and willing to support her.
Just like what J.K. Rowling is doing, collaborating with Warner Brothers making spin offs with her Harry Potter films, it's likely Meyer could also head out in that direction. Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson have long split and found love with other people, but his doesn't mean they no longer have that wild chemistry on screen. Fans are dying to see them back together, at least to reprise their role as Bella and Edward.
Kristen Stewart In 'Personal Shopper'
Meanwhile, Kristen Stewart once again proved her worth as a versatile actress, starring in the critically acclaimed film by Olivier Assayas 'Personal Shopper'. In here, Stewart is Maureen, a personal shopper to a demanding and spoiled German super model. At the same time she also serves as a medium trying to connect to her dead sibling.
The movie has been previously described as 'reckless and audacious'. On the other hand, Stewart's stellar performance was praised for being 'tremendous'. Admittedly, the success of the film is credited to Stewart's performance, euronews reported.
Whether or not Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson on screen reunion will come to fruition is yet to be known. But with the hundreds of millions of dollars the 'Twilight' saga has raked in, the temptation to revive the epic love team is simply irresistible.
