There are rumors swirling online that the new Android-powered Nokia P1 from HMD Global could launch next month.
It is reported that HMD Global is set to release the premium Nokia smartphone very soon and fan are hoping that the device will be unveiled at the MWC 2017 as Nokia has an event slated for Feb. 26 which reportedly runs on the Android platform.
The Nokia P1 is rumored to have a 5.3 inches IGZO screen and Gorilla Glass 5. The device is said to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and 6GB RAM with 128 GB and 256 GB of on-board storage. It is not known if the device will offer an expandable memory option.
The Nokia P1 primary camera is speculated to be 22.6 megapixels with Carl Zeiss optics. It will feature a 3500 mAh battery with Quick Charge support and a fingerprint scanner that will not be embedded in the home button or the rear of the device but, placed on the right side of the device. Although, the smartphone's resolution is still not known, it is expected to be 2560 x 1440 pixels.
It is also reported to be waterproof and dust resistant and will run the Android 7.0 Nougat. The nokia Nokia P1 manufacturer, Foxconn is known for producing the Sharp smartphones, which gives strength to rumors that the device would be based on the Sharp Aquos Xx3 recently launched in Japan, Techtimes reports.
Indian Express reports that the device is expected to cost $800 for the 128GB variant and $950 for the 256 GB variant. Nokia is reported to have up to seven upcoming smartphones and the Nokia P1 is expected to be its flagship.
Fans have come to believe that the brand Nokia is synonymous with reliability. The device may induce the feeling of nostalgia among fans, as the developer will be launching the device under its own banner, rather than Microsoft.
The recently created Finland company, shouldered with the development and marketing of Nokia's Android phones for ten years, HMD Global, has confirmed its presence at the MWC 2017, where it is expected to announce the high anticipated device and will be sharing the stage with Nokia on Feb. 26, in Barcelona
The company released the first Nokia-branded smartphone early this month - the Nokia 6. Currently the device is exclusive to the Chinese market and is expected to be available for purchase Jan. 19.
