The last minute of the Nintendo Switch trailer suggest that the Chinese developer seems to have changed its stance on esports. The trailer reveals information which did not actually have anything to do with the hardware - esports.

Nintendo is not known for supporting international competitive gaming event even when there are competitive scenes around some of its most popular titles such as Super Smash Bros. It was reported that Nintendo planned to take the Super Smash Bros to the EVO competitive gaming event in 2013, but EVO had to pull off the game from the broadcast list and subsequently from the entire event.

However, the Nintendo Switch trailer reveals that things might have turned otherwise, according to Inverse. The Nintendo Switch trailer shows what looks like a stadium set up with cheering crowd and colorful lights splashing.

It also shows Splatoon players competing in a sold out arena, and giving high-five to fans on their way to the center stage. It looks like an arena set-up for popular esports such as Dota 2 or League of Legends, but without the security guards who keep fans from touching players and approaching the center stage, Mashable reported.

Recent updates also reveal that the Nintendo has already partnered with ESL which is among the most popular esports tournament organizers in the world. ESL hosted multiple Splatoon tournaments and the collaboration which took place in September 2016 was about the Go4Splatoon tournament, which offers four Nintendo Switches as a grand prize even before revealing its name officially.

Although, the trailer did reveal whether Nintendo will bring Splatoon2 to esports tournament as there was no much details about it from the video, it confirms that the company is trying to make clear its support for esports and also seized the opportunity to show off how the Switch can be used for impromptu practice irrespective of where players are.

Players can set up their highly mobile Switches whenever they want to go over strategies and get in a few practice rounds, at tournaments without proper practice room. Even though High level tournaments do provide convenient practice setups for competitors, most of the competitive LAN events do not.
