The action camera maker GoPro ventured into the world of drones by releasing its own autonomous unmanned flying drone, Karma. The model aims to compete with the latest drone in the market like DJI.
The company subtly revealed that the new Karma Core re-launch will happen later this year. This confirms the speculations, to the delight of drone enthusiasts, that Karma isn't dead yet after a dreaded recall last year.
The news of the update was confirmed when GoPro updated its official website where the new core was included in the listing. The release of the new Karma Core might save GoPro's drone from totally losing in the unmanned aerial vehicle competition.
About 2,500 units of GoPro drone Karma were recalled last year due to technical issues including power loss that may cause the units to fall from the sky, according to PetaPixel. The company acted immediately when reports of Karma drone crashes proliferated. Some thought this could be the end of GoPro's foldable drone ambition, to the dismay of many.
Despite the failed attempt to gain the drone market during the launch, GoPro will try to win back the followers by teasing about the new Karma core in their official website. The units are labeled "coming soon", which means it could just roll out any minute now.
"The Karma Core is a replacement drone for Karma," GoPro describes the new product that was recently added to their roster of items on their official website. "The Karma Core is a complete replacement for damaged Karma Drones that can't be fixed with a new arm or landing gear."
GoPro added that the parts can also be replaced individually if there are isolated damages to the drones. Karma core works with the existing Karma controller, battery, and stabilizer.
The new Karma replacement will retail for $399.00 bundled with a 30-day money back guarantee.
