The "Bates Motel" final season posters have been released, before the big premiere next month. The artwork shows a variety of bizarre family portraits of Norman (Freddie Highmore) only with his mother Norma Bates (Vera Farmiga). The posters homage the sixties horror film 'Psycho'.
According to IGN News, the new design will be seen on billboards, on January 23. The same source published the four official posters created for the finale.
In every poster, Norman appears alongside his mother, while she looks like a statue or just frozen next to him. Like a movie remake, the image can refer to the part Norman (character) preserved a person (his mother) in ice. Similar than the skeleton found in the classic Hitchcock movie.
The key art will show Norman and his mother together, both sitting on the bed, like the original 'Bates Motel' poster. But now with an interesting twist, Norma is evidently dead on these features. The bond between Norma and his son is unbreakable, the poster adds the phrase; "Together Until The End". And it's clear that there is no way Norma was going to survive his son twisted plans.
Since the show started, fans watched Norman's dangerous transformation through the years, and now he probably will end up killing "Mother" at the upcoming season.
However, the audience will see more of Norma Bates alive before the final cut. The Emmy-nominated actress Vera Farmiga returns to play "Mother" but also as one of the executive producer of the show. Freddie Highmore will be playing once again the complicated and mind twisted, Norman Bates. And not only Farmiga will produce Bates Motel but also her surviving husband "Romero". Actor Nestor Carbonell is expected to direct an episode this season and probably will play a role too, reported Screen Rant.
The fifth and final season is a drama written by the original producers Kerry Ehrin, known for "Friday Night Lights" and "Parenthood" and Carlton Cuse, for working in "Lost" series and "The Strain".
Also, on this final season of "Bates Motel" will be a special appearance. The show cast the eight-time Grammy Award winner, Rihanna. The R&B singer will play the role of "Marion Crane" with the ex-Walking Dead actor Austin Nichol's like his husband.
'Bates Motel' season 5 will premiere on Monday, February 20, on A&E.
