The billionaire-turned-super hero Tony Stark/Iron Man played convincingly well by veteran actor Robert Downey Jr. could be facing its demise. The Iron Man 4 installment was canceled but rumors say that Iron Man and Tony Stark may be the star of one of the three unnamed Marvel movies in 2020.
There might not be a fourth Iron Man movie but fans can still expect to see the iron-clad Tony Stark in "Homecoming" with Tom Holland's Peter Parker and Spider-man. This means he might still reprise the role in the next installment "Spider-man: Homecoming 2."
Robert Downey Jr., however, seems to be dropping hints everywhere that he, as Iron Man/Tony Stark might star in a movie that is yet to be named in the next few years. Rumors say that there are three Marvel movies slated to be released in 2020 and that one of the movies could be Iron Man, according to a report.
The actor may be mum about the next movie but he already confirmed that Iron Man 4 is not happening. "I don't think that's in the cards. In a way, it's Cap 3 but for me, it's like my little Iron Man 4," Robert Downey Jr. said in an interview with USA Today.
What keeps the fans going is the belief that Iron Man might return as one of the unnamed Marvel films in 2020 despite not having an Iron Man 4 sequel. But with or without an Iron Man solo movie in the next few years, Robert Downey Jr. assured his fans that the well-loved character won't turn into a totally loathsome villain in its series of cameo roles.
"If we're going to go there, then we've got to save it for my swan song. I would still like to keep a general audience and mildly be in their favor somehow," Robert Downey Jr. said.
