Oscar nominations 2017 surprised many with its unpredictable snubs. However, this year's nominations also have some funny facts, and shocking revelations to make. As expected "La La Land" has received maximum nominations, a record-breaking 14.
But then it is not the first movie to get 14 nods at the Oscars. The Academy Awards history says that the movie is tied with two other all-time classics, "All About Eve" (1950) and "Titanic" (1997). According to Variety, the James Cameron, Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet starred won 11 Oscars equaling with "Ben-Hur" and "The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King."
Another surprise package of Oscar nominations 2017 is Meryl Streep. This lady never fails to come up with the most outstanding performance whenever she graces the screen. With a nomination for "Florence Foster Jenkins," she extends her record to the 20th nomination. The last time Streep won the Oscars was in 2011 for "The Iron Lady."
And now for the shocks & snubs in Oscar nominations 2017! Huge Grant fans were pretty expecting him to receive a nomination for his role of a supportive husband in the Streep starred movie o 2016. Grant previously has been nominated four times for Oscars although is yet to get one. But this time along the gifted comedian is not even on the list which is certainly very much shocking.
Another major snub of this year's Oscar nominations 2017 is Emily Blunt who received much praise for her portrayal of the autumn flick, "Girl," reports Fox News. Her depiction of an unstable alcoholic woman earned her Best actress nominations for both the British Film Academy and Screen Actors Guild.
Alas, the Academy Awards failed to take notice of Blunt's exclusive performance. And the injustice did not stop here. Super performer Tom Hank's Clint Eastwood directed the movie, "Sully' released in the fall of 2016 and got him fabulous positive reviews as well as huge box-office response. However, the iconic "Gump" character played with such aplomb by Hanks failed to find a place in Oscar nominations 2017.
