Sarah Hyland Skips 2017 SAG Awards, Cites Health Reasons

One very important cast member of "Modern Family" is missing at the SAG Awards. Sarah Hyland announced that she has to miss the 2017 Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards on Sunday, Jan. 29, due to health reasons.

the ABC sitcom is nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series, an award the cast has won four times, most recently in 2014.

This year, she is nominated along with her costars from the ABC sitcom for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a comedy series at the annual awards where actors award fellow actors for the best film and TV performances of the year. The cast members have already won the award four times with the most recent being in 2014.

The actress posted a note on instagram on Sunday explaining that she will not be able to make it to the SAG awards for some health reasons, and then shared a photo of herself kissing beau, Dom Sherwood at the 2016 awards. "The Vampire Academy" costars have been dating since February 2015, Starsdiary reports.

The 26-year-old revealed the sad news few hours before the start of the show. She said "Sad to say I will not be attending the sag awards today for some health reasons. So I leave you all with an adorable picture from last years @sagawards. Ps. You know my dress was gonna be turnt too."

The actress has always been open about her health issues. In 2012, Hyland revealed that she had a kidney transplant due to a lifelong battle with kidney dysplasia. She was diagnosed with the condition at age 9 years and underwent a kidney transplant in April 2012.

US magazine reports that actor, Edward James Hyland (her father), was the one who donated the organ for the actress. She explained to Seventeen in 2015 that she was born with so many health issues and the doctors told her mother that she would never be able to have a normal life. Hyland stated that her mom replied saying, "You are right, she won't, but it won't be because of her health."

In 2012, she also told Good Morning America that she was often in pain during the "Modern Family" filming. She explained that she always try and make it so that her character - Haley Dunphy is always sitting down. Hyland added that fans would have noticed that the character is always sitting down a lot or leaning and texting. "When Haley walks up the stairs that is like my workout for the week," she said.
