Its going to be a season of girl power for Team Gwen in "The Voice" Season 12 as Coach Gwen Stefani enlisted the help of powerhouse dive Celine Dion as guest mentor. Dion confirmed the news via twitter.
A report by TMZ indicated that Celine was originally being eyed as a permanent coach on the NBC talent search but the singer could not commit for several months of filming. The mentoring gig was a much more feasible set up since it only took two days to shoot.
"Very excited to join @gwenstefani on @NBCTheVoice as #TeamGwen's advisor for Battles! #TheVoice -Céline," Dion tweeted along with a photo of her and Stefani. She also said that she is excited to work with Gwen because she knows her music and career as well as being a beautiful person, reported WDEF reported.
Stefani will be returning to the coach's chair for Season 12 as Coach Miley Cyrus sits out the season after making her colorful debut in Season 11. Cyrus will return to the show for Season 13. Stefani will be returning to coaching duties after promoting and touring for her new album "This is What Love Feels Like." Coach Blake Shelton, her boyfriend admitted that having her back on the show makes him nervous and excited at the same time because of the new dynamic that their romantic relationship could bring to the competition.
Previous music superstars who have served a turn in finding fresh talent to add to the current music scene include original coaches Ceelo Green, Cristina Aguilera, Shakira, Usher, Pharrell Williams and most recently, Alicia Keys. Country singer Blake Shelton and Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine are the only two coaches who have consistently been on the show since the first season, making their competitive streak and banter one of the main draws of the show.
