First, let's get this out of the way. If you haven't been listening to Janelle Monae/ Erykah Badu's new single "Q.U.E.E.N" then YOU ARE WRONG. (Don't worry I'll provide a clip below for you to repent.) Anyway, the funky duet has a new, mesmerizing teaser for its soon-to-debut music video.
The clip consists of 30 seconds of Monae staring straight ahead while a team of people work around her to prep for a video shoot. In spite of the lack of much going on, Janelle's straight-on stare locks you in for the entirety as smooth jazz plays.
The clip promises that the music video for "Q.U.E.E.N." will debut later today (May 1) on BET's 106 & Park (side note: do you guys remember when you actually used to look forward to 106 every day? This is probably the first time in a while that I've thought "I need to watch this.")
"Q.U.E.E.N" is the first single off of The Electric Lady, Monae's follow-up to The ArchAndroid. It will, presumably, be the end to Monae's four part series following her android alter ego Cindi Mayweather. Metropolis - The Chase Suite documented Cindi running from the law as the attempted to disassemble her for falling in love with a human. The ArchAndroid combined parts two and three of the series and chronicled Cindi's rise to an android messiah of sorts. The Electric Lady should be the conclusion.
