Blackberry has decided to extend their software licensing. The Canadian company has partnered with Optiemus Infracom Ltd to carry their Android smartphones.

There is a huge progress waiting for Blackberry ahead. Tech Crunch reported that the company has just announced an "exclusive, long-term" deal with the Indian-based company.

The latter's territories include India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Bangladesh. In the near future, Blackberry's smartphones are expected to reach the said countries.

Blackberry recognizes India as a solid market. They already had a previous deal with Optiemus for DTEK50 and DTEK60. The two phones were still under the former BlackBerry banner and were both designed by its future licenser, TCL.

Per Indian Express, last November Blackberry already announced its partnership with Optiemus Infracom. The latter was also allowed to distribute and sell their two recent DTEK smartphones.

The Industry analysts believe that the second most populous nation could be the second largest smartphone market. At the time China is the biggest market but India is soon surpassing the USA. In fact, even Apple sees an untapped potential in the said country.

Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook wished to open a center in Bangalore, India early this year. He foresees India as the next biggest country in smartphones, The Wall Street Journal reported.

"I sort of view India as where China was seven to 10 years ago," Cook told an analyst. Thus, Apple users from India may have abundant access to Apple products like iPhones and iPads soon.

On the side note, reports have it that Optiemus Infracom will now design, manufacture, sell, promote and provide customer support for all BB mobile devices. However, BlackBerry will still control the security and software solution. The collaboration of the two tech-giants from different countries is a great move to support the government's "Make in India" initiative.

What's your take of BlackBerry working with Optiemus Infracom? Do you agree that India will be the second smartphone market worldwide and that it will surpass the USA soon? Share your thoughts below.
