Last night, former guitarist of The Smiths, Johnny Marr, appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to promote his upcoming record The Messenger. His on-air performance was of the title track of his new album but he also treated fans to another song. As the web-exclusive clip opens, you can tell that Jimmy Fallon is very excited to be introducing this legendary song. Originally sung by The Smiths' frontman, Morrissey, Marr pulls off taking the vocal lead very well. The memorable lead guitar line definitely sent some fans into a frenzy as Marr sang, "I am the sun/ I am the air." It was just really nice to see an original member of a band that will most likely never reunite perform one of their hit songs on a popular late night television show.
