ABC has confirmed the renewal of Shonda Land shows "Grey's Anatomy", "Scandal" and "How to Get Away with Murder" for new seasons which means that the Thank God It's Thursday lineup for the network is still very much intact. This means that fans of these long running shows will get to continue rooting for their favorite characters for a fresh season at the end of the year.

The confirmation that the three shows will continue through to their new seasons came from no less than ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey. In her announcement, she credited "Grey's Anatomy", "Scandal" and 'How to Get Away with Murder" with constantly keeping viewers hooked with its powerful storytelling and exciting plotlines, Variety reported.

Grey's Anatomy, Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder continue to keep viewers on the edge of their seats and wanting more," she said. "I'm thrilled to bring back these shows and the OMG moments that come with them."

"Grey's Anatomy," which top-bills Ellen Pompeo as Dr. Meredith Grey, has been on the air since 2005 and is now halfway through its 13th season. With 280 episodes under its belt, it comes close to the record set by the medical drama "ER", which closed with 331 episodes and 15 seasons on the air.

"Scandal," on the other hand, is well on its way to its sixth season of politics, romance, betrayals as Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) tries to reconcile her new life as the head of her own crisis management team with complications brought on by her history with the president.

On the other hand, "How to Get Away with Murder," which is a few episodes shy of airing its Season 3 finale features Viola Davis as criminal lawyer Annalise Keating, who is constantly caught in a balance between handling controversial court cases and dealing with the growing death toll that a single homicide has spawned from the first season.

According to a report from Deadline, all three shows have continued to dominate their timeslots with "Grey's Anatomy" ranking first among adults 18-49, making it ABC's best-performing show for the particular demographic. This season's plot in developing a stronger bond between Meredith and original cast member Justin Chambers (Dr. Alex Karev) also has fans speculating whether it will progress into something romantic.

"Scandal," on the other hand, started off its sixth season with the biggest 18-49 opening in a year. Viola Davis's "How To Get Away With Murder", after revealing that Wes was the mystery victim underneath the body bag in its midseason finale, returned for its second half with season highs.
