Microsoft Scraps Plans Physical Edition Of 'Halo Wars 2' For PC In US; Game Release On Feb. 21

Microsoft will no longer release a physical version of its hit game "Halo Wars 2" for Windows 10 PC. Instead, it will only make the physical copies available in Europe. This was the announcement made by developer 343 Industries on their official blog.

According to the blog post, the studio has partnered with THQ Nordic to make the game physically available for Windows 10 PC. However, Microsoft has decided to shift its retail plans from physical to digital leaving gamers in the US and elsewhere in the world with only the digital option.

"THQ Nordic is a great partner and they are working with us to ensure this transition remains smooth for our customers," 343 wrote. "Halo Wars 2 for Windows 10 PC will remain available worldwide, digitally, via the Windows Store."

The studio also apologized for the inconvenience for those who were expecting to get the physical copies of "Halo Wars 2" to add to their collections. 343 has assured that the game will be released on Xbox One and Windows 10 PC as scheduled on February 21.

According to a report by Digital Trends, the "Halo Wars 2 Ultimate Edition" of the game was supposed to give players access to game four days in advance. Since it was not mentioned in the post, pundits are expecting that the change in the plans may have also affected the early release provision.

If players purchase the Ultimate Edition of "Halo Wars 2," they will get a DLC season pass, an enhanced copy of the original "Halo Wars" which they can access through Windows and Xbox. Fans of the game should expect a lot of exciting changes in the game since this is a collaboration between two innovative studios - 343 Industries and Creative Assembly. The first game was developed by Ensemble Studios.
