Verizon, T-Mobile Tie For Best Network, Opensignal Report Finds

OpenSignal is now back. Through their annual investigation , State of Mobile Networks: USA. Verizon and T-Mobile are both labeled to being the 'best' carrier in the United States.

According to Android Authority, with regards to the data speeds, it's a tie between Verizon and T-Mobile for being the fastest 4G LTE network in the US, having 16.89 Mbps and 16.65 Mbps average speeds respectively. The company studied from October to December. The city having the fastest 4G speeds in their recent study is in Detroit. For now, Verizon has the top 4G availability, having been upgraded on its own.

On the news, it was noted that, "the two (carriers) are again tied in network speeds in our tests, but T-Mobile continues to chip away at Verizon's vaunted lead in 4G availability." Having a speed of 88.2 percent, it offers the highest rates as compared to T-Mobile which is 2 percent points behind. The reports have shown that Verizon and T-Mobile are said to be the 'best' in terms of their mobile network speed and performance from the latest findings of OpenSignal, as per Top Tech News.

Aside from data speed, latency is an important factor. It is involved on online gaming and video calls. Verizon has a 59.8 ms typical 4G latency while T-Mobile is on 61.6 ms. On 3G, T-Mobile is leading with 115.8 ms while Verizon is on 173.3 ms. On Network coverage, customers could connect to 4G network on Verizon at 88.2 percent of the time on average while T-Mobile i on 86.6 percent.

According to the OpenSignal analyst Kevin Fitchard, it was said that Verizon has already been upgrading its network to LTE-Advanced technology and so it goes with other operators such as T-Mobile having been deploying new frequency bands. Want more? Stay tuned for more of the hottest tech news!
