"Narcos" Season 3 has already been confirmed, but Netflix has yet to announce the release date. Although fans are excited for the show's renewal, bad news comes in the form of Boyd Holbrook's departure. A new actor will be part of the cast, though, as "Sense8" actor, Miguel Angel Silvestre, joins the next season.
"Narcos" is one of Netflix's highest rating crime drama series. It is set in Colombia and revolves around the life of Pablo Escobar (Wagner Moura) and his rise to fame and fortune through selling cocaine. Season 2 ends with Escobar's death by a shot to the head, so "Narcos" Season 3 will follow Javier Peña's (Pablo Pascal) return to the US and the rise of the Cali Cartel.
Another main character that won't be returning for "Narcos" Season 3 is Boyd Holbrook, who starred as Steve Murphy. During a "Logan" press tour, Holbrook, who plays Donald Pierce in the movie, said very briefly that he won't be in the third season. He said that his role was over, although it was not explicitly expressed in the show, reports We Got This Covered.
The actor said that his character's role was finished, so there was no need for Murphy to come back to "Narcos" Season 3, but since his role was never really wrapped up, there is a chance that Holbrook could come back in cameo appearances throughout the season. Fans will recall that Holbrook led the mission to take down Escobar. He also served as the show's main protagonist and narrator, so it's certain that many fans will be disappointed that he won't be in the show's next run.
The writers and producers for "Narcos" have expressed that the show will head in a new direction. The next season will focus on taking down a Mexican kingpin called "El Chapo". Although the studio hasn't announced the casting for "El Chapo", it was revealed that Miguel Angel Silvestre will join the "Narcos" Season 3 cast.
Avid Netflix subscribers will note that Silvestre also starred in another Netflix series, "Sense8", which will air its Season 2 later this year. In fact, Just Jared shared photos that Silvestre and Pascal uploaded on Instagram. The two friends were seen in Cartagena, Colombia during production for "Narcos" Season 3.
