Mariah Carey made headlines before 2016 ended due to a performance mishap which did not end well for her. In a recent appearance on the talk show "Jimmy Kimmel Live!", Carey delivered a stellar performance with a song about her ex-fiancée James Packer.

Sharing the stage with rapper YG, Carey sang her newest single "I Don't", which appears to have references with the relationship she had with the Australian billionaire. Rocking a form-hugging red gown, People reported that Carey sang some lines that have a clear connection to the breakup, which happened during a vacation trip the couple had last year. The relationship references are stronger on the song's music video, with Mariah burning a wedding dress.

The performance also marked the first onstage appearance of the Grammy-awarded Mariah Carey after making the headlines at the end of 2016. Humiliated by the technical mishap during "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin'Eve" on ABC, the singer went on to Twitter to pin the blame on the production team, according to Vanity Fair. In response, Dick Clark Productions stated that initial investigations found the production team not responsible for the issue, which had Mariah struggling with her three-song set.

As for her split with Packer, reports suggest several reasons for the break-up. Her 'lavish' lifestyle was one point, with her spending as well as her celebrity status being an issue for the very private Australian. Carey's camp, on the other hand, cites his temper issues as a main problem, particularly his jealousy towards Bryan Tanaka, one of her backup dancers. Recent news about the singer revealed, however, that Tanaka is Carey's current beau.

Mariah Carey will be joined by Lionel Ritchie in the "All-American Hits Tour" in 2017. Starting at Baltimore's Royal Farms Arena, the 35-show tour is scheduled from March 15 to May 27, ending at the   BB&T Center in Fort Lauderdale.
