"The Vampire Diaries" is going to end in a whirlwind of emotions! There will be one major death in the series finale of the much-loved show, confirmed Julie Plec, the showrunner. All evidences point to the either Stefan (Paul Wesley) or Bonnie (Kat Graham) being one to get killed.
Even though there are other key cast members like Damon (Ian Somerhalder), Caroline (Candice King) and Matt (Zach Roerig) on "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8, Stefan and Bonnie seem to the only two likely candidates who can die in the upcoming series finale. There are several reasons to support this theory.
Stefan is the first choice for the showrunners to eliminate in series finale because it ties with the plot almost in a poetic manner. Since the very pilot of "The Vampire Diaries" viewers have been aware of the vicious cycle of pain and misery that the Salvatore brothers are caught up in, TV Guide reports. It is the reason that none of them can be truly happy till the other exists.
It all started with Stefan selfishly turning Damon into a vampire so that he would not get lonely as an immortal. Maybe it all ends with Stefan's death (since he is already a human), signifying the story of the Salvatore brothers coming to a full circle. Also, the cure is inside Stefan's blood, which Damon can use to become a human and live a happy life with Elena (Nina Dobrev) after his brother's death.
Bonnie, on the other hand, has nothing left to lose after the death of her boyfriend, Enzo. Also, since her death is the only way Elena can wake up from her sleep, there is a good chance that Bonnie will sacrifice her life or Kai would kill her, resulting in Elena's reappearance in "The Vampire Diaries" series finale.
Elena will be attending the funeral of a loved one in "The Vampire Diaries" series finale, Entertainment Weekly reports. It is hard to tell if it is Bonnie or Stefan inside the coffin since she cared equally for both. Apart from Elena, there is no way of knowing which remaining characters will be attending the funeral, as the crew has done their best to keep it a secret.
Who do you think will get killed in the final episode of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8? Co-written and directed by none other than Julie Plec herself, "The Vampire Diaries" series finale airs on March 10, only on CW.
