The last we heard about the teen television dream couple, Leighton Meester and her boyfriend Adam Brody, the two had secretly vacationed in Bangkok together and then came out publicly as an item. Now they are set to costar in a new film, Life Partners, together though they will not be playing each other's romantic interest. Meester is set to play a lesbian and Brody will portray the love interest to "Community" actress Gillian Jacobs. Brody and Meester met on the set of 2011's The Oranges.
The coming-together of these two stars was more than just a normal celebrity couple. They each played pivotal roles in teen television shows ("The O.C." for Brody and "Gossip Girl" for Meester) and were arguably the favored characters on each (Seth Cohen and Blaire Waldorf). Their relationship is like a dream-come-true for fans! So this news that they would be sharing some screen time is obviously welcome. Unfortunately it looks like Leighton's character will not show any interest in Brody's.
Plus, do you think she will mind his scenes with Jacobs? Adam is set to play the romantic lead that sways Gillian's character from a promise she made with Meester's character. In the film, Paige (Jacobs) vows not to get married until her lesbian best friend Sasha (Meester) has the same legal right. But Tim (Brody) throws a wrench into that plan by sweeping Paige off of her feet. Abby Elliot and Gabourey Sidibe are also set to star in the film direct by first-timer Susanna Fogel who also wrote the screenplay.
Does this sound like a movie you would go out to see? Are you disappointed you won't be seeing the real-life lovebirds together romantically on-screen?
Brody previously dated his "O.C." costar Rachel Bilson until 2006 and has also been romantically linked to director Lorene Scafaria before falling for the "Gossip Girl" star. Meester, meanwhile, has dated actors Aaron Himelstein and Sebastian Stan.
