Apple has been on the hotspot recently because of a quite unexpected event. One of their latest phones, the iPhone 7 Plus owned by a Brianna Olivas exploded after the diagnostic test from Sprint. It is startling how that happens, but it seems like defects like this could make Apple's year similar to Samsung's 2016.

As reported by Mac Rumors, Apple is now investigating how the phone from a viral Twitter post exploded just after it was unplugged from the charger. The said phone cannot be turned on a day before the explosion happened. Because of this, Olivas went to the Sprint shop. After several checks, the iPhone was reported to be fine and Olivas can use the phone again.

Next morning, after charging the phone overnight, Olivas' boyfriend unplugged the phone from the charger and went to answer nature's call. When he came back, the phone was smoking and is making a squealing sound. The guy picked up the phone immediately and threw it in the bathroom to take a video of the explosion.

According to Phone Arena, Apple has replaced the phone and is investigating the cause of the exploding iPhone. Olivas stated that she used the original charger, in which reduces the chances of exploding phones. Apple will keep in touch with Olivas as they investigate the case.

It is not known yet if other Apple iPhone 7 Plus units has the same defect such as Olivas' phone. If there is such a widespread defect on the whole iPhone 7 product line, then it is possible that Apple will suffer the same misfortune Samsung did last year.

Phone producers are focusing too much on bigger specs and beasty phones and stuffing them into pretty much small cases. The result is modern phone with more efficiency, but more hazardous. Focus must be on balance between efficiency and safety.
