Tom Holland finally met his predecessor Andrew Garfield in the recent BAFTA event. In screenshots taken by some fans, the second and current iterations of Peter Parker share a moment together.
Speaking about the event after, Holland, who won the Rising Star of the Year Award, said that Garfield was a really lovely guy. Further adding to the point, Holland, who stars in MCU's "Spider-Man: Homecoming", revealed that he has been a fan of his work, and can't wait to pick Andrew's brain to see if he has anything for the young actor, Comic Book reported.
Andrew Garfield, who succeeded the role of Peter Parker from Tobey Maguire in 2012's "Amazing Spider-Man" and 2014's "Amazing Spider-Man 2", was previously quoted to praise Holland's take on the web-slinger in "Captain America: Civil War". After "Amazing Spider-Man 2", there were plans to have a third movie, though did not materialize due to financial constraints.
This change of plans for the "Spider-Man" seemed to work out well for Garfield. According to Movieweb, Andrew is happy for the cancellation of the third film as it allowed him to work on Mel Gibson's Oscar-nominated film "Hacksaw Ridge". Playing the lead character Desmond Doss, conscientious objector that served as a medic during the War of Okinawa. His take on the character merited him several Oscar and Golden Globe nominations, as well as several awards, like the Best Actor award in the AACTA Awards.
Maguire, who played as the webhead on Sam Reimi's three "Spider-Man" films, also had high praises for the young Holland, who is the first to crossover to the MCU. Reportedly, a fourth "Spider-Man" film was in the talks for the Maguire-Reimi tandem, unfortunately production and script issues caused the deal to fall off, ending his term as the web-slinger.
"Spider-Man: Homecoming" is swinging into theatres in July 2017.
