Even though Katherine Heigl starrer "Doubt" was merely two episode-old, it already been pulled from its primetime slot of 10 p.m. on Wednesdays. This is due to the show's constant downhill ride when it comes to ratings.
According to TVLine, CBS is done waiting for the ratings of "Doubt" Season 1 to climb up. Since it was a packed with star power, including names like Katherine Heigl, Laverne Cox and Dule Hill, the network had given the show the primetime slot, without thinking twice. However, in just a couple of episodes, the show fell far short of their expectations and is showing no hopes of reviving itself.
"Doubt" opened with a slacking viewership. Only 5.3 million people tuned in to watch the pilot and it received a sorry rating of 0.8. "Doubt" Episode 2 was no better, as viewers dropped to just 4 million and its ratings slipped to 0.6.
In the light of the situation, the network will be allotting the primetime slot of Wednesdays to "Criminal Minds" Season 2 instead. "Criminal Minds", as opposed to "Doubt" has had far better viewership. It has been standing strong at 6 million viewers and an impressive 1.0 in rating during its first season. Even the predecessor of "Doubt", "Code Black", with an average rating of 1.27, performed far better, TV Series Finale reports.
Heigl's luck has not been favoring her, when it comes to choosing TV series, ever since her successful six-season-stint at ABC medical drama "Grey's Anatomy" got over. Everyone still remembers her as the carefree Dr. Izzie Stevens from the show. Even though she has been doling out box office successes on the silver screen, her television career has been falling flat. If "Doubt" bites the dust, it would be Heigl's second failed attempt at a TV series after NBC's "State of Affairs", which got cancelled after just a 13-episode first season.
