Fans of the English-Irish pop band "One Direction" are very eager to see boyband work together again. While each of the five members of "One Direction" has their own solo projects, the group's reunion will be happening.
The reunion was confirmed by Niall Horan, one of the members of "One Direction" (or more affectionately called "1D"), while speaking to an Australian radio show recently. According to CNN, while the exact time when the reunion would happen was not shared, Horan seems to be excited about the idea of him working with the others once the hiatus ends.
The announcement of the rumored reunion was even connected to the recently-concluded BRIT Awards 2017. As the Express reported, a post on the social media site Twitter led to speculations that "One Direction" will make an announcement at the end of the event, though nothing of the sort materialized.
However, a statement from another "One Direction" member, Liam Payne, assured that "One Direction" is still there. In his speech for receiving the Best Video award, Payne stated that even if they are taking some time out, they would always be "One Direction."
Formed in 2010, the five-piece boyband took third place on the talent competition "The X Factor." Originally joining as solo artists, they were formed into the group to qualify for the "Group" category, where they ended up winning third place. "One Direction" was then signed to Simon Cowell's Syco Records to the tune of two million pounds. "One Direction" then received international fame, making chart-topping hits one after the other.
After their fourth studio album "Four", Zayn Malik left the group to pursue a solo career. The group later on went on a temporary hiatus, originally scheduled for 18 months. Currently, each of the members is taking time to work on solo projects.
