Fox aims to give a definitive end to Hugh Jackman's run as Wolverine with the release of "Logan." In some interesting turn of events, the movie effectively kills off the character, as well as Patrick Stewart's Professor X (for the second time).

As a word of warning, the following will contain some spoilers. Those who want to avoid them are suggested to skip.

In "Logan", an aging Wolverine uses a serum to give himself a boost as he faced Donald Pierce and the Transigen to protect Laura, also known as X-23. While he successfully dispatched the group, the battle proved to be the adamantium-laced mutant's last, as he dies shortly afterward, according to Just Jared.

As for Professor X, his life was ended (again) at the hands of who seems to be Wolverine. Before breathing his last, however, the professor (and the audience) finds out that another Wolverine clone was responsible: X-24.

X-24 is a mutant clone of Wolverine that is both a take from the comics and a "Logan" original. The idea of a Wolverine clone that looks like the mutant has been toyed in the comics, though was given a different and generic name, Albert. According to Comicbook, Albert came from Donald Pierce, as with "Logan", though it was made to defeat the mutant, which ended badly for Albert.

X-23, on the other hand, is another clone of Wolverine and the first successful one at that. Originally appearing in the animated TV series "X-Men: Evolution", she was made to destroy him, though ending up siding with them. X-23 in "Logan" plays similarly to the original version on some parts, as she teaches Wolverine parental responsibility over the young mutant.

"Logan" is the last movie that has Wolverine played by Jackman. After 17 years of portraying the fierce mutant on-screen, it was reported the "Logan" star would have kept the role for an MCU appearance, though fans know that it would be next to impossible.

"Logan" is now showing in theatres worldwide.
