Moviegoers were in for a real treat as they headed to theaters for Fox's "Logan." Not only did they witness the last hurrah of Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, but they were also greeted by Deadpool spoofing Superman's telephone costume change scene before the movie itself.
In the teaser that accompanied "Logan" titled "No Good Deed", Wade Wilson, still played by Ryan Reynolds, witnesses a robbery taking place outside a movie theater that is playing, ironically, "Logan." Wanting to help out, Wade heads to a nearby telephone booth to change into Deadpool, complete with the "Superman" theme at the background, Entertainment Weekly reported. Deadpool takes his sweet time getting into costume, even calling someone named "Laird", referring to it as a customer.
Deadpool finally comes out after hearing a gunshot, only to find the old man on the ground with his own blood. While feeling regret, Deadpool overcomes it by having a conversation with the dead man and lying on the floor, using the man's body as a pillow. The teaser ends with a hard-to-see reel, followed by a message saying Deadpool is coming not soon enough.
Many Easter Eggs were scattered along the 4-minute teaser. According to Cinema Blend, the "Nathan Summers Coming Soon" seen on the telephone booth is a reminder to fans that Cable, whose given name is Nathan Summers, will be joining Wade Wilson on "Deadpool 2." There were also some "Firefly" posters seen at the background of the booth. Some speculate that it was a reference to Morena Baccarin, who played as Wade's love interest Vanessa, as she was once part of the TV series.
Stan Lee also had a couple of firsts in this trailer. Seen praising the Merc with a Mouth's looks, Deadpool is quick to shut up the Marvel stalwart. This marks the first time he appears on a trailer for any movie, and the first time in Marvel and X-Men movies that he was called by name.
"Logan" is out in theatres worldwide. "Deadpool 2" is scheduled for 2018.
