Charles Ramsey has become a hometown hero literally over night. Ramsey, who is the man who helped three Ohio former missing woman escape his neighbors home, was "shocked" that his neighbors could be the men responsible for kidnapping and chaining up three women.
"I've been here a year. You see where I'm coming from? I barbecue with this dude. We eat ribs and whatnot and listen to salsa music..," Ramsey said of the man arrested for kidnapping and holding the women captive.
Ramsey saw Amanda Berry trying to escape from the home on Seymour Avenue. He told news reporters after the fact that she identified her self and said that she had been there a long time, (10 years infact). Ramsey then attempted to help her escape by creating a small crawl space and helping her and the other kidnapped victims escape to freedom.
"I knew something was wrong when a little pretty white girl ran into a black man's arms. Something is wrong here. Dead giveaway," Ramsey told reporters. "She homeless or she got problems. Only reason she runnin' to a black man."
For his swift thinking and heroic efforts Ramsey has become a hometown hero. He said the incident has forced him to think more about his neighbors and who they really are.
