After laying low from the spotlight over the past years, Tyra Banks has returned. Multiple outlets have confirmed that she will be standing in place of Nick Cannon on "America's Got Talent. She has expressed excitement over this new project.
According to E! News, Tyra Banks is looking forward to becoming the new host of "America's Got Talent. In a press release obtained by the outlet, the "America's Next Top Model" presenter, Banks says she is a fan of "grandiose acts." It turns out that hosting "AGT" is a dream come true for the veteran model.
The big announcement comes after Nick Cannon shocked the world by announcing his exit from "America's Got Talent." He has been the host for the show for the longest time. Despite the shocking departure, fans and the "AGT" judges have started welcoming Tyra Banks to the circle.
Nick Cannon cited some issues with the network airing "America's Got Talent." In a Facebook post, the comedian noted that he won't be working with companies that "frown on freedom of speech." Tyra Banks has not yet commented on the issue that Cannon raised.
The Hollywood Reporter points out that Nick Cannon's racial slur stemmed from his show "Nick Cannon: Stand Up, Don't Shoot." In some of the episodes, Cannon eventually delivered some remarks that tackled race. Cannon said previously that NBC "threatened" to fire him over the issue that led to Tyra Banks being chosen as the next "America's Got Talent" host.
Meanwhile, TMZ reports that the choice to put Tyra Banks in place for Nick Cannon was done after three tries. According to the outlet, Banks wasn't even in the main list of the next "America's Got Talent" host. The show originally tried to get Tone Bell, Brandon Mychal Smith, or Marlon Wayans to sign in.
Marlon Wayans reportedly wanted a bigger fee that the producers can't produce. Brandon Mychal Smith and his managers seemed to not like the idea. There are no details as to why Tone Bell turned down the "America's Got Talent" offer. Tyra Banks was then tapped to sign in.
