Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt seemed to have a premonition that their marriage was doomed. The "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" star tried to save it by getting a matching tattoo to reignite their commitment but it still failed to save their marriage.
The former A-list couple was in Cambodia filming Angelina Jolie's "First They Killed My Father" last year when they decided to have matching tattoos. The pair had an ex-Thai monk Ajarn Noon Kanpai flown from Bangkok to do the inking using the traditional and painful handheld method, Yahoo! 7 reported.
Angelina Jolie got three intricate "magical" Sak Yant tattoos on her back. The "Maleficent" star opted for three markings the lines of script, geometric patterns and animal shapes. Meanwhile, Brad Pitt got a Buddhist symbol tattoo on the left side of his stomach and used the same ink as Jolie's.
Sak Yant tattoos that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt shared are associated with healing, luck, strength and protection against evil, ET reported. Reports have it that the couple opted to get tattoos to "symbolically bind them as husband and wife." Unfortunately, it didn't work in helping the pair preserve their marriage.
In fact, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are now facing an ugly divorce and custody battle over their children. In an interview, the "Salt" star said that they will always be a family and they will always prioritize their family. However, some sources claim that Brad Pitt is tired with his ex-wife's drama and that the "Allied" star just wants to finalize their divorce.
This is not the first time Angelina Jolie gets a tattoo dedicated to her husband. She also had an ink of her ex-husband's name Billy Bob on her left arm. However, she had it removed via laser in 2003, following their divorce and replaced it with the birth coordinates of her children and Brad Pitt's.
Will Angelina Jolie have her commitment tattoo with Brad Pitt removed as well? Are there any chances for the pair to reconcile? Share your thoughts below.
