Gohan has always been the better hero to some fans and a new report may shock "Dragon Ball Super" fanatics. It is speculated that Gohan may soon replace Son Goku as the franchise's lead character. It appears that the new arc is paving the way for this new storyline.
In a recent report by Comic Book, it is said that "Dragon Ball" creator Akira Toriyama once planned for someone else besides Goku to be the lead star. As fans know, it seemed to almost happen after the Cell Saga. Gohan was supposed to be the new hero. However, it didn't happen as many fans still like Goku better despite his mistakes. The plan could finally work out in "Dragon Ball Super."
In the "Universal Survival" arc of "Dragon Ball Super," Son Goku is portrayed as a selfish hero. His boredom led to the Tournament of Power and the potential death of other universes. It is believed that Akira Toriyama's plan for Goku to be usurped will finally take place.
In "Dragon Ball Super" Episode 82, Goku will face off against Toppo of Universe 11. Toppo has the purpose of peeling Goku's layers off to reveal his dark side. If Toppo accomplishes his purpose, Gohan's regime may finally shine.
The latest "Dragon Ball Super" spoilers for Episode 82 reveal that Goku will not like the idea of Toppo adding to the insult that Crusher Bergamo already laid. According to another report from CB, Goku may not mean to be a nuisance to others when his main purpose is to fight. The idea of Gohan merely having the purpose of saving Universe 7 could enter in this regard.
It remains to be seen how the Universal Survival arc will end and if Akira Toriyama's plans for Gohan will push through. When Gohan beat Cell, he was almost given the right to take over the throne that Goku left behind after the latter's sacrifice. In "Dragon Ball Super," Gohan may finally sit on that throne.
"Dragon Ball Super" airs every Sunday on Fuji TV. Stay tuned for more "DBS" spoilers and updates.
