HMD Global, the Finnish company that makes handsets under the lauded Nokia brand name is gearing up to take the wraps off a top notch phone in June. If rumours running rampant online are anything to go by, the smartphone will pack a Snapdragon 835 and it's highly likely that the purported device could be the much awaited Nokia 8 2017.
Apparently, 'anonymous insiders' told Pocket Now that the Nokia-branded Android flagship is not scheduled to arrive for another three months, with HMD Global gearing up for a June unveiling. While HMD has neither confirmed nor denied this rumor until now, a June unveiling of Nokia 8 2017 seems quite plausible as it would be concurrent with the rebranding of Withings to Nokia Health. Withings is a French consumer electronic company that designs digital health products and apps.
First off, a powerful Qualcomm's 10nm Snapdragon 835 processor could be firing up the Nokia 8 smartphone, which is said to boast a full-metal chassis. In the photography front, Nokia 8 2017 is expected to sport a colossal 23MP camera, equipped with the Carl Zeiss technology, which was used in Nokia Lumia 920 says Know Your Mobile.
HMD is reportedly hard at works on two models of the Nokia 8 2017 smartphone; one with a big screen and the other with a comparatively smaller screen. If previously surfaced rumors proved to be true, Nokia 8 will come in two sizes including a 5.2-inch model and a 5.5-inch model, each featuring QHD 2560x1440 AMOLED displays.
If the unveiling of the Nokia 3, 5 and 6 smartphones at this year's MWC (Mobile World Congress) is anything to go by, the Nokia 8 2017 will put forth a vanilla Android experience. If this comes to fruition, users can expect a prompt roll out monthly security updates, quick upgrades to new versions of Android and the search giant's AI Assistant -- just like the LG G6 and the recently announced Moto G5 and G5 Plus, according to TheInquirer.
Sources claim the smaller version of the Nokia 8 2017 will cost 4,000 yuan, which converts to about $578. Nokia enthusiasts can get their hands on the larger model of the device by shelling out 4,500 yuan (about $650).
It's worth noting that this does not echo previous reports that indicated the 5.5-inch Nokia 8 2017 with 128GB storage will come bearing £635 (about $772) price tag, while the 256 storage version will carry a £720 (about $875) price tag.
