Singer Demi Lovato revealed to the press recently that she and the Joe Jonas were ready to do "Camp Rock 3". Both former Disney Channel stars said that they could do another movie in the franchise if the studio was amendable to an R-rated "Camp Rock" for an older audience. Lovato is also busy coming up with new songs, and many of them will be soulful.
Demi Lovato attended the 2017 Kid's Choice Awards last Saturday and told Entertainment Tonight that she had been doing a lot of personal projects. The "This Is Me" singer struggled with addiction during the early days of her career and just recently, she celebrated her fifth "sober birthday". When asked about her other projects and the "Camp Rock" series that launched her career, Lovato said she would gladly do "Camp Rock 3".
Lovato is busy with new songs however. She said during the interview that she was in the studio almost everyday. She also hinted that her new singles will be more soulful. Even with her new projects, though, she teased the possibility of "Camp Rock 3". "Yes, and we're totally gonna do it. It'd be like American Pie meets Disney Channel... It's going to happen," the singer teased. Demi Lovato posed with former boyfriend, Joe Jonas, for an Instagram photo and the former boyband member jokingly said that they were read for "CR3".
Demi Lovato clarified that it was just an idea they threw around, but it could happen if the third film shows a more mature theme. Joe Jonas told Marie Claire that the third "Camp Rock" movie could be about the characters dealing with graduation, the adult world, and basically darker and more serious issues.
The "Camp Rock" TV movie in 2008 garnered 8.9 million viewers, making it the highest viewed Disney Channel Original Movie. The soundtrack earned the No. 3 spot in the Billboard 200 and its album earned a Platinum certificate. The second one was less well-received, but it still had 7.9 million views. Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas' idea to revive the franchise with a more mature theme in "Camp Rock 3" might just be what fans want.
