Kate Middleton and Prince William have reportedly chosen a private school for little Prince George, 3. He is set to attend Thomas’ School in Battersea, south London as the start of his formal education journey on September. The first rule of the private school is to be kind where the students are discouraged from picking a best-friend in case somebody else’s feelings get hurt.
The mixed-sex day school has a particular focus on the arts, sports and the importance of outdoor activities says a The Sun report. It will reportedly cost Kate Middleton and Prince William £5,653 a term. According to a Kensington Palace spokesman, the royal couple are delighted with their choice and confident that Prince George will have a happy and successful start in his education.
In choosing Thomas’ school, Prince George will not be following the tradition of the royals and other upper class families, which is joining an all boys environment rather than joining a class alongside girls his age. Prince William and his brother, Prince Harry, both attended Wetherby pre-prep before moving to Ludgrove and Eton according to The Telegraph.
There is a speculation that Kate Middleton and Prince William chose a school with a “no best-friend” policy in order to worry less about vetting the toddler’s friends even at such a young age. More importantly, the school seems to be open and interactive in educating the kids compared to Wetherby. This may be the reason why Prince George’s parents chose Thomas’ school over the other.
Kate Middleton and Prince William’s decision is another way of the prince breaking royal tradition again. As followers of the British royalty know by now, he has been doing of a lot of that lately. Share us your thoughts on whether Prince George being sent to a new school is acceptable or if you rather that the young royals stuck to tradition.
