The next highly anticipated smartphone from HTC might be round the corner. The company is struggling hard to achieve its charm it once had in the smartphone industry. A new report as surfaced that suggest that HTC might drop its naming convention this time and the new flagship might be called HTC Ocean.
HTC Ocean will be the flagship device from HTC that would compete with Samsung Galaxy S8 and LG G6. HTC already started making waves by launching HTC U Play and U Ultra but seems there will be another device that will be the flagship device for the year 2017.
The news and rumors for HTC's next flagship smartphone surfaced from a video that shows an HTC handset with no physical buttons on the front and relying solely on gestures, voice commands and touch, reported Pocket-lint. The smartphone has been leaked several times but and it seems it won't be called HTC 11 as predicted earlier.
HTC's Chialin Chang, president of the smartphone and connected devices business said that HTC's flagship for the year 2017 it would not be called HTC 11. He confirmed this in an interview with Engadget. Concluding from the leaks, it seems that HTC Ocean will be the name for the flagship device from HTC.
The HTC Ocean will be a feature-rich device with "Sense Touch" user interface. The famous leaker Evan Blass posted to Twitter to say that HTC Ocean exists last year. Recently, a video has surfaced which is professionally produced and shows people swiping down the edges to scroll through apps. The smartphone is expected to come in a metal shell with an IP57 rating.
The specifications for HTC Ocean are not yet official but we expect the device to come with a Snapdragon 835 SoC with 4GB RAM. The device will have a 5.5-5.7-inch screen with 2560x1600 resolution and display might be curved this time. Other features include an AI-driven user interface, USB Type-C, support for Google Daydeam.
