Kris Kross Chris Kelly Funeral [PHOTOS]: '90's Rapper Chris Smith Remembers Group Member, Says' It's Been A Struggle For Me Everyday'

Chris Kelly, former member of the '90's hip-hop duo Kris Kross was laid to rest May 9, in Atlanta.  Former group member Chris Smith spoke at the funeral services to 300 friend and family members who remembered Kelly and his contributions to hip-hop.

His mother Donna Kelly at his home found Kelly unresponsive on May 1.  Police suspected his death was caused by an overdose as his mother and uncle confirmed Kelly's drug abuse.

"It's been a struggle for me every day, but there was a peace that came over me this morning because I know he's in heaven," Smith said, as tears fell down his face, CBS reported.

Smith and Jermaine Dupri walked into the Jackson Baptist Memorial Church together before the services began, according to AP.  Dupri had a heavy heart as well, as he discovered the two Chris's at an Atlanta mall in 1990.  Kris Kross also gave their last performance together at the 20th anniversary of Durpri's label, So So Def., in late February.

"We had so many memories," Smith said. "He was a true friend. He wanted to see if I was all right. So I just want to say I love you, man, and I'll miss you."

There sure was a lot of love at Chris Kelly's going home service. Besides Kelly's mother Donna and his uncle Robert Barber who also spoke to reporters, So So Def and other music artists were on hand to share their condolences.

Rapper Da Brat attempted to speak to reporters, according to CBS, however she was too distraught and walked into the church.

Durpi and Da Brat wore their pants backwards to pay homage to Chris Kelly and Kris Kross.

So sad, R.I.P Chris Kelly.
