Many actors bond during filming, but Charlie Hunnam revealed that his co-star, Robert Pattinson, barely spoke to him during "The Lost City of Z" production. After filming, though, Pattinson reached out to him. Hunnam also said that the social distance between him and Pattinson created the right dynamic for their characters on screen.
While filming "The Lost City of Z", actor Charlie Hunnam revealed that he and his co-star Robert Pattinson didn't grow close. The "Sons of Anarchy" star also said that he spoke no more than ten words to the "Twilight" alum. Hunnam told Screen Daily, "I didn't know if he was just 'in that zone' or if he genuinely didn't like me. There was a real distance between us."
However, the "Queer as Folk" actor also said that it translated well into the dynamic for their characters on screen. Charlie Hunnam plays British colonial explorer Percy Fawcett, while Robert Pattinson portrays the aide de camp, Henry Costin. Hunnam also said that Pattinson was a method actor, so he understood the latter's distance, which was in sync with his role as Costin.
Pattinson, meanwhile, revealed to PEOPLE that the actors only had one meal a day. Their diet was tight and might have affected the mood of the production. In fact, Charlie Hunnam also said that he didn't bond much with Tom Holland, who plays his son in "The Lost City of Z". Pattinson waved off the issue, though, and said that, at least, he was finally able to wear skinny jeans with his new 28-inch waistline.
After the film's production, Pattinson did eventually reach out to Charlie Hunnam for some bonding time. The 36-year-old "Pacific Rim" actor said that he understood Pattinson's cold shoulder treatment on the set since it was for the movie. "The Lost City of Z" will hit theaters this April 14 while Hunnam's other film, Guy Ritchie's "King Arthur" will air on May 12, 2017.
