Rupert Sanders looked back on his affair with Kristen Stewart. According to the director, it didn't affect his career.
Rupert Sanders is a master stylist. His skills and potential were honed on a string of high-end commercials for Guinness, Nike, Adidas and Sony. So he was asked if he was worried that his affair with Kristen Stewart will undermine his position.
"If you took people off the table for a momentary lapse there would be no one making art," Rupert Sanders told Metro. The "Ghost in the Shell" director explained that everyone makes mistakes and one has to move forward the best he can.
Rupert Sanders and Kristen Stewart's affair made headlines and it resulted in their split with their former partners Liberty Ross and Robert Pattinson, respectively. On July 17, 2012, the pair was caught kissing and Us Weekly published some photos of it online and in print a week later.
When their affair went public, Rupert Sanders issued an apology to his wife of 11 years and to their kids. Meanwhile, Kristen Stewart did the same to Robert Pattinson, E! News reported.
"This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob," Kristen Stewart said. "I love him. I love him. I'm so sorry."
However, things didn't end well for Rupert Sanders and Liberty Ross, and Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. Sander's wife filed for divorce in January 2013. Meanwhile, the "Twilight" stars tried to give their romance another chance but also broke up for good in the same year.
All four have moved forward with their lives. Kristen Stewart has been dating Stella Maxwell since late 2016. Robert Pattinson has been engaged to FKA Twigs. In 2016 Liberty Ross married Jimmy lovine while Rupert Sanders remain single.
