Josh Duggar and his wife Anna appear to have successfully rebuilt their lives in Arkansas after his 2015 cheating scandal. She apparently has forgiven him for his sexual transgressions and the couple recently announced they are expecting their fifth child. But, his past is coming back to haunt him.
Josh Duggar was reportedly asked to appear in court to be questioned for his involvement in the dating website Ashley Madison two years ago. It has been revealed that the 29-year old former “19 Kids and Counting” star used an image of a Los Angeles based man named Matthew McCarthy for his photo in the website. This was in order for Josh to keep his identity hidden.
According to a People report, Josh Duggar had a premium “guaranteed affair” Ashley Madison subscription. He later confessed that he had developed an addiction to online pornography and was unfaithful to Anna. Josh had since completed a faith-based rehabilitation program.
The professional DJ is not happy about his image being used by Josh Duggar without his permission. It also dragged McCarthy to a very public scandal. Because of this, he is suing Duggar for pretending to be him. McCarthy’s lawyer Michelle Jarusso said that they hope to find out how deep Josh’s deception ran.
It’s not actually just the cheating that McCarthy is concerned about adds his lawyer. There is also the uncovered police report of a teenaged Josh Duggar. He allegedly molested five family members including two of his sisters. That makes McCarthy associated with a bigger scandal, which is more painful for him. Jarusso says,“He certainly would rather not have been associated with a child molester. And prospective employers didn’t like it, either.”
According to McCarthy, career opportunities have been limited for him since his photo was used by Josh Duggar reports In Touch. He is claiming to have suffered from anxiety, depression, humiliation, embarrassment, loss of self-esteem, extreme and severe mental anguish, and emotional stress.
If Josh Duggar fails to reach a settlement with McCarthy before May 15, he will have to testify under oath about his OKCupid and Ashley Madison accounts. Worse, he may have to give the names of the women he cheated his wife with.
That would be a bigger price Josh Duggar has to pay than what McCarthy is looking to get from the case. He is seeking damages and compensation for past and future earnings he lost because of his connection with the scandal.
